Seclusion, segregation, surveillance, registries - what do these
things have in common? They're all current efforts to quarantine,
separate, record and monitor autistics living today, and in the
future, implemented in the name of safety and security for
autistics with high support needs.
In this episode, Leo Jones discusses autism registries, intentional
communities, seclusion rooms and 24/7 tracking - and illustrates
how these teach autistic children that they have little to no
autonomy, little freedom to make their own decisions, and no
semblance of privacy, which creates further problems for them as
adults.
