Too often, autistic voices and perspectives are dismissed,
ignored, or admonished in our world, especially when we try to
assert ourselves in matters of policy, governance and culture.
Frequently in news stories and social media posts, we are forced to
take a back seat, as the focus is often on parents, siblings,
relatives, friends, or even co-workers and classmates.
Countering that chronically persistent narrative is the Unashamed Voices of Autism Project, where autistic
adults and adolescents have an open mic to broadcast their own
story to the autistic community, and can safely describe what
autism is like from their own perspective.
In this episode, I'm joined by Alison Knight, creator, who started
Unashamed Voices of Autism last September.
